Elderly man in hospital following knife attack

A man in his 70s is recovering in hospital after he was victim to a horrifying knife attack in Narre Warren over the weekend.

Investigators were told a man and a woman were walking along a walking track adjacent to Drysdale Avenue, near the intersection of Settlers Hill Place, about 6.50am on 2 October.

It is believed a man approached and slashed the pair with a sharp-edged weapon before fleeing on foot, police said.

A 70-year-old Narre Warren man suffered arm injuries and was was transported in a serious but stable condition to Dandenong Hospital.

A 57-year old Pakenham woman was uninjured in the attack.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
