Woofmus in July

Christmas is July has arrived at The Lost Dogs’ Home with a very special one week only event at the North Melbourne and Cranbourne shelters from 18-25 July.

Merry Woofmus will see the shelters transformed into a winter wonderland with dogs available for a heavily reduced adoption fee of $95.

The Home’s Spokesperson Suzana Talevski said the cost-of-living pressures across the country has resulted in more dogs being surrendered, with a 60 per cent increase in the first three months of this year.

‘’We currently have more than 50 dogs available for adoption more than 300 in our care,’’ said Ms Talevski.

‘’Compared to this time last year, that’s about a 20 per cent increase for dogs in care and rising.’’

Ms Talevski also said less dogs were being adopted, but she remains hopeful the dogs at the Home will find their furever families.

“Owning a pet is still very much possible despite the cost of virtually everything on the rise but it’s all about budgeting and making sure you are in the position to look after your furry friends for their entire life

span’’ said Ms Talevski.

‘’Whether Christmas is in July or December, making the choice to adopt an animal should be made carefully and it should be well planned for.’’
