Council reviews open space

Casey residents are being encouraged to provide feedback as the council proposes some changes to the city’s Open Space Strategy.

The City of Casey’s Open Space Strategy (OSS) and Leisure Facilities Development Plan Policy (LFDP) have been used in the planning and delivery of open space and sports facilities in Casey since they were adopted by Council in 2015 and 2014.

The OSS guides the planning, design, development and management of open space in the City of Casey, while the LFDP guides Council’s planning to ensure an equitable and consistent approach to the development of new and improvement of existing sporting facilities.

Council has undertaken a review of the OSS and LFDP, and is proposing to make a number of small changes to both documents to bring them in line with current standards and expectations. The changes include new sections relating to Traditional Owners, environment and climate change, gender equality, accessibility, and child safety.

It is also proposed to changing the name of the Leisure Facilities Development Plan to the Sports Facilities Framework.

To view the updates to both documents and provide feedback, please visit the Casey Conversations website by 5.00pm on Thursday 7 September.
