Four Berwick residents woke up on Friday 15 December as multimillionaires after a more than lucky draw in last night’s Powerball draw.
Each Berwick shopper pocketed a share worth $3.7 million after their syndicate scored division one.
Called Million Everyday, the four-share store syndicate held one of the two division one winning entries in Powerball draw 1439 on Thursday 14 December, where each division one winning entry scored $15 million.
One member of the group confessed her heart was racing and she was shaking after the amount she had won was revealed by a lottery official on Friday morning.
“My heart was going a thousand miles an hour; don’t give me a heart attack! I’m too young for that.
“You don’t know how life-changing this is, I’m going to buy my very own home and help my children out,“ the local woman said.
Shares into the winning syndicate were sold at Berwick Springs Lotto and News, kiosk 2, at Eden Rise Village in Berwick.
Berwick Springs Lotto and News owner Bernard Aulia said he was ecstatic to have sold a Powerball syndicate that created so many multi-millionaires just in time for Christmas.
“I’m just speechless and very happy that our outlet could sell a division one winning syndicate for a Powerball draw.
“We’ve been on quite the winning streak this year, we’ve sold nine division one winning tickets since 2015 and three of these have been this year alone,” he said.
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1439 were 2, 6, 22, 4, 30, 18 and 8, with the Powerball number itself being 2.
“What a thrill and a great Christmas surprise!
“This win fills our hearts with joy, if you dream it, it will come eventually and congratulations to all our winners,” Mr Aulia said.
Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries in the 1439 Powerball draw, one in New South Wales and one in Victoria.
For the Lott, their division one winning tally has now reached 388 so far in 2023, with 187 won by Tatts customers.
In FY23, 21 Powerball division one winning entries across Australia pocketed more than $647.26 million in prize money.
During this time, Powerball offered a $160 million jackpot – the biggest prize ever offered by any Australian lottery game – that was won by three division one winning entries.
Of the 21 Powerball division one winning entries in FY23, 11 landed in New South Wales, three each in Victoria and South Australia, and two each in Queensland and Western Australia.
There are still more chances to win with Tuesday’s Oz Lotto offering 470 million, while Thursday’s Powerball has $8 million up for grabs.
Lucky Lotteries mega jackpot prize is now $10.6 million for draw 1637, while their super jackpot prize is now $7.39 million for draw 10817.
