With World Humanitarian Day just over a few days ago on 19 August, here are three ways to commemorate and honour humanitarian workers and those affected by crises across the world.

1)Supporting humanitarian organisations: this can be done through donations to groups such as UNICEF Australia ChildFund Australia and more, or volunteering through fundraising and awareness campaigns.

2)Raising awareness: Speaking on awareness, this can be achieved through social media, where one could post and share stories, statistics and information about ongoing crises and highlight the call to action from peers.

3)Reflection and education: learning more about ongoing issues and informing others is an effective way to commemorate the day, which in turn can influence others to act; reading books, watching documentaries and delving into humanitarian topics, in general, is an effective way to do this.
