Proposed Woolies for Officer North

Officer North residents are encouraged to have their say on a proposed new Woolworths store.

Consultation is now open on the development proposed for 235 Princes Highway, on the corner of Whiteside Road.

According to a consultation flyer posted in locals’ letterboxes, the development will include a full-line Woolworths supermarket with a number of other complementary shops.

Consultation will close on Sunday 1 September.

Cardinia Council Officer Ward councillor Tammy Radford said she encourages any nearby residents to respond to the survey.

“It can be quite frustrating living in a growth area waiting on development so that you have better access to employment, and services and facilities like a supermarket, so it’s great to see some progress from Woolworths on this site,” she said.

“While I’m not sure what stage of planning and development they are at, I’m really pleased to see them engaging with the community on ideas for this shopping location.”

Woolworths’ announcement came after the State Government shot down a proposal to build a Costco store in Officer, due to a belief that it would be infringing on the State-significant industrial land planned for Officer South.
