Woman in critical condition after carjacking in Berwick

A 66-year-old woman is in critical condition after being struck by her vehicle when it was stolen outside a Berwick hospital earlier today.

The offender has yet to be located, and police are still looking for the 2012 brown Ford Territory with the registration DEX 581.

It is understood that the woman was accompanying her husband from their car to the hospital entrance on Robin Avenue around 10:45am.

Meanwhile, a man who had just left the hospital jumped into the vacant car.

The owner of the car saw this unfold and attempted to stop the man from driving away, but she was then struck by the moving vehicle.

The Upper Beaconsfield woman has been transported to a Melbourne hospital in a critical condition.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, with CCTV/dashcam footage or information, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
