Recent numbers from the Crime Statistics Agency saw Cranbourne as the suburb with the most criminal incidents and offences recorded in the City of Casey, a story that has remained consistent throughout the years.
So far in the year ending March 2025, Cranbourne tacked on 2836 criminal incidents, a 27.9 per cent increase from 2024.
With recorded offences, Cranbourne had 3956, a jump of 24.4 per cent.
Taking a deeper look at the specifics, Cranbourne, on the types of crimes committed, had the most property and deception offences, raking in 2104 in 2025.
This is a 27.9 per cent increase from 2024, which had 1644 incidents in the category.
Diving even deeper, Cranbourne recorded 1370 thefts, up 34.3 per cent from the 2024 figure of 1020.
The second highest in this category is property damage, with 348 recorded offences, a 49.3 per cent increase from the 233 figure in 2024.
Following that are burglaries and break-ins, sitting at 229 incidents in 2025, up 31.6 per cent from 2024’s figure of 174.
The next highest category was crimes against a person, as Cranbourne recorded a total of 798, a 38.3 per cent increase from 2024’s figure of 577.
Taking a deeper look, there were 406 assaults, also an increase of 26.8 per cent from the previous year’s figure of 320.
Following this figure are other forms of assault at 163, a 114.4 per cent increase from 2024’s 76 incidents.
A similar stretch can be observed with incidents of stalking and harassment, with Cranbourne recording 131 incidents in 2025, an 81.9 per cent increase from 2024’s figure of 72.
Robbery is down to 42, though, from 2024’s figure of 47; there is also a similar story with dangerous and negligent acts endangering people, down to 56 from 62.
The third highest category is justice procedures offences, as Cranbourne tallied a total of 625 incidents, up 8.6 per cent from 2024’s figure of 575.
Within this category, the highest type was the breaches of orders with 538 incidents, which is up 9.1 per cent from the 493 figure in 2024.
As it stands, property and deception offences are the dominant category, with theft being the single most common offence.
On the same note, assault and interpersonal violence are on the uptake, and while justice procedures offences remain high, it does remain stable.
