Secure your legacy today

One of the most important things you can prepare for in life is for when you are no longer here and the Cardinia Communtiy Foundation is set on helping you secure your legacy.

Last Wednesday 9 July, the foundation held their sixth wills and bequest information session, this time in Emerald with the assistance of Falcone & Adams Lawyers.

The session provides assistance in the all-important necessity of developing a will and the ability you have to secure your estate for your family and community.

Wills and Estates Lawyer Tegan Bryne spoke about how 60 per cent of Australians do not have a will and why everyone over the age of 18 should have one in place.

Wills ensure your wishes are met, give peace of mind to your family members and provide an opportunity to leave a legacy.

The instructions of the celebration of your life will be clear, an executor can be secured and your businesses or trusts can continue uninterrupted.

Ms Bryne also noted the importance of updating your will for many occasions, including marriage, children or retirement.

Foundation manager Melissa Gleeson spoke about the opportunities for leaving a legacy in your will, such as bequests to organisations or charities.

The Cardinia Community Foundation has their own program where locals can have a fund dedicated in their name or in the name of a loved one.

“It’s one of the most enduring things you can do, leaving a legacy,” Ms Gleeson said.

“It means together we can achieve great things for the community.”

A bequest can establish a named fund which carries on a loved one’s values and passions in the community, a permanent way of helping future generations after one has passed.
