Community connection importance; councillor meet-and-greet

As the City of Casey’s councillors settle into their roles, many are still keen to reach out to their local communities, as Casuarina Ward councillor, Kim Ross, is eager for a ward meet-and-greet in Narre Warren South.

To be held at the Oakgrove Community Centre on Friday, 15 August, Cr Ross is inviting locals to come together and connect during a casual catch-up at the centre.

“One of my passions as a local councillor is to really work to create more spaces for our community to come together,” Cr Ross said.

“Yes, we have Bunjil Place, but I’d like to see community centres like Oakgrove used as places where people feel they can come together and feel welcome.”

With a strong focus on activating local spaces in the Casuarina Ward, Ross is passionate about creating these opportunities, emphasising the importance of connection, as well as residents sharing time and ideas to build those strong neighbourhood connections.

“By activating these spaces with casual get-togethers and gatherings, we can create a greater sense of belonging and strengthen our local networks,” Cr Ross said.

The meet-and-greet will be held between 12:30pm to 1:30pm, and provides residents with a space to meet their local councillor, express their concerns, talk about local matters, or just sit down and have a chat.

“I’m really keen to hear directly from the community, and any ideas they have on how we can work together to make Casuarina Ward a better place to live,” she said.
