Casey council elects Mayor and Deputy Mayor for 2025-26

Stefan Koomen has been unanimously re-elected by his fellow councillors to be Casey’s mayor for 2025-26.

This marks his second 12 month term, after being elected last November.

In a short teary-eyed speech, Mayor Koomen thanked the council members and remarked on his past term as both “challenging and rewarding”.

Cr Michelle Crowther of the Cranbourne Garden Ward was also unanimously voted in as deputy mayor succeeding Melinda Ambros of the Kalora Ward.

Cr Crowther accepted the nomination from Cr Ambros.

“Its an honour to be selected to serve as your deputy mayor,” said Crowther.

“I’d like to thank my fellow councillors for their support and trust in me.

“I promise I’ll continue to work hard and support the councillor group to achieve goals.

“Especially in achieving the great outcomes for the Casey community, which is the most important reason why we’re all here.”
