Rapid response from firefighters as 200 people evacuated at Eden Rise Village

Approximately 200 people were evacuated from Eden Rise Village in Berwick this afternoon after a fire was reported, prompting a quick response by fire emergency crews.

A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson said that they responded to the incident at 2:45pm after numerous calls reporting a fire on the roof.

Firefighters arrived on scene within two minutes to find a fire inside the industrial rangehood of a food shop.

Crews dismantled the rangehood and quickly extinguished the blaze with the incident deemed under control at 2.54pm.

According to Ambulance Victoria, no injuries were reported.
