Assault in Cheltenham leads to fatality

A 28 year old man has been arrested following a fatal assault in Cheltenham on the evening of Tuesday 16 December.

Emergency services were called to the scene after reports of a man being allegedly seriously assaulted at a Warrigal Road address before 10pm.

A 27 year old Berwick man was declared deceased at the scene.

According to investigators, the two men were known to each other.

A crime scene has been established and Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The alleged culprit was arrested at the scene and remains in custody.
