Charges after fatal house fire

Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad have charged a woman following a fatal house fire in Clyde North last month.

A 29-year-old woman taken to hospital under police guard has been charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

She was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

The charges follow an incident where emergency services were called to reports of a fire and people injured at the Sunburnt Circuit property about 1.45am on Thursday, 18 December.

Two men, aged 46 and 44, were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The 44-year-old man died from his later that evening.

The 46-year-old remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Two other people inside the property at the time, a 43-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl were not physically injured during the incident.

Police believe the parties involved are known to each other.
