A titanic challenge

“No excuses.”

Berwick Springs coach Rodney Benstead is setting the benchmark this weekend.

The Titans came away with the draw last week against Gembrook Cockatoo, leaving them just two points out of the top four.

This week the Titans come up against that side in fourth, Healesville, on their home patch – and while Benstead has been carrying an optimistic mindset out of all his sides performances in their second season, this week is different.

“I guess each week I have said I feel we’re improving,” he said.

“If we go back to that patch against Emerald and Seville we had opportunities and I was really disappointed in round 1.

“I think we’ve been on an upward curve since then and now we get the opportunity, because you can talk about it, but this week is a big game for us.

“We’re on our home ground and we’re looking to perform, there will be no excuses, it’s a big game for us.

“It’ll put us in the four for the first time and that’ll be pretty exciting from where we’ve come from.”

A standard four points will get the Titans over Healesville and into fourth, while a big win – a win worthy of 27.34 per cent – will see the Titans leapfrog Gembrook Cockatoo, which has the bye this week.
