13WHITE: Beaconsfield 7 defeated by Berwick 12
It was a cold morning this week at Berwick where we found our girls struggling to get started in the first quarter. We went into the second quarter down 0-6 but our heads were held high knowing how well we can play when coming from behind. With two of our key goalers missing this week we had a new combination of Olivia and Sara in the ring and it took some time to find their groove. We were starting to release the ball in defence and transition to attack with longer passing which opened up the court and created openings into the goal circle. Going into the final quarter we had made up a lot of goals after winning the second and third. In the final term we struggled from defence transition and to find our opportunities in attack. Berwick’s holding goalers made it difficult to intercept and were able to score well against us. Sometimes we can take more away from a game as coaches and players in defeat. It allows us to hone our skills and strategise our next meeting. Berwick is yet to be defeated but I am sure we will be the team to do it in Round 18
Awards: McDonalds – Isabel who has been a wonderful addition to our team during the holiday break, playing beautifully in WD.
Twisted Sista – Well done to Olivia who stepped into the goaling position today and did an amazing job of combining with Sara.
13 BLUE: Bye
15 WHITE: Beaconsfield 33 def Berwick 12
Coming off the back of two good wins against Berwick we were able to mix it up a little and give our GK Summer a good run in GS, and she didn’t disappoint scoring 17 of our 33 goals! All the girls did a great job, with the ball movement through centre court from Celina and Kaylah being particularly outstanding. Janae continues to be a great option in WA, combining with Bella in C beautifully. Emma is so versatile moving from C to GA effortlessly. Lily is as consistent as ever in goals while Chloe continues to grow in confidence in defence. We face a very tough challenge against Narre next week but as always every week is an opportunity to explore our capabilities as a team!
Awards: McDonalds – Summer Hamilton. Over The Road – Kaylah Martingale.
15 BLUE: Beaconsfield 13 def by ROC 30
An away game this week and we headed down the highway to Officer to play ROC in horrible cold and wet conditions. This was a low scoring game for us as we struggled to get any sort of rhythm or momentum going in our favour. Our first quarter was our best only being down by two and scoring six goals. We just didn’t take this creative spirit forward finishing the game with 13. This group always play hard and fight the game out and we display great sportsmanship and support each other. Our mid court worked hard on coming forward and driving hard to each contest, our goalers made some great decisions on our passes and their use of space. Our defenders did it tough working hard will little reward at times, but we have talked about the little wins and to take those as positives. If we keep working hard at our individual roles the rest will fall into place.
Awards: Over the Road – Ava Treweek. Domino’s – Claire Anderton.
17 WHITE: Beaconsfield 30 def ROC 14
Today the 17 White’s ventured down to ROC. Having played and beaten them a couple of times already this season, we went into the game still treating them as strong opposition. Under horrible conditions we took control early in the first quarter holding a comfortable lead. With both sides making a few mistakes due to the rain we always maintained that healthy lead and came away with a comfortable win.
Awards: Twisted Sista – Ashlee Quinn. McDonalds – Maddy Lancaster.
17 BLUE: Beaconsfield 10 def ROC 9
Wow-wee…this game was an incredible game to watch and all the girls were outstanding. Every single player played with 110-percent grit and determination right down to the last siren. Attack, mid and defence all worked relentlessly at breaking through ROC’s strategies and set ups. We knew to beat ROC we needed to bring our best to the court, and the girls did not disappoint. In an extremely low scoring game, the girls held on to a well-deserved win. Suzie and I were so proud of each and every one of you.
Awards: Over the Road – Sophie Stinear. Twisted Sista – Charlotte Shortis.
D GRADE: Beaconsfield 19 def by ROC 32
I had the pleasure of stepping in to coach D grade this weekend. These girls work incredibly hard at training and the results are slowly starting to show with some great passages of play. The girls worked tirelessly all day but fortunately ROC was too strong on the day. Congrats to Ashlee Quinn on making her senior debut.
Awards: Whiteboards Direct – Ashlee Quinn. Over the Road – Kylie Hamilton. Domino’s – Katie Bourchier.
C GRADE: Beaconsfield 23 def by ROC 36
We headed down to Officer to play ROC this week and got off to a fantastic start. The girls started competitively and were able to keep up with the fierce ROC team. By the end of the first quarter there was only one goal the difference between the two teams. In the second quarter we lost control of the play, and turned the ball over way too many times to allow ROC a seven-goal lead. The third quarter we rebound back with some beautiful attack work, but unfortunately ROC was not going to give us any leverage. By the fourth quarter we had ran out of legs and ROC was able to take the lead and the game. Big thanks go to Brodie, for stepping in and helping out the team today.
Awards: Whiteboard’s Direct – Jesse. Over the Road – Brodie. Domino’s – Kayce.
B GRADE: Beaconsfield 31 def by ROC 51
Another tough game for our girls, but we certainly showed improvement since taking on ROC in Round 3. Missing a couple of our regular seniors, we trialled a new look shooting end that took some time to gel but eventually put it together to show some great passages of play. Our girls gave it their all, but we knew our simple errors cost us at times. We will look to bounce back from this, and get back out there.
Awards: Whiteboard’s Direct – Jess Coburn. Domino’s – Kayla Voss. Over the Road – Claudia Griffiths.
A GRADE: Beaconsfield 40 def by ROC 56
Despite going down in the game, our A Grade team played with great intent for four quarters. We were willing to put everything out there on court and stay connected throughout. In attack we played good netball with our feeders finding our shooters well. We tested a few new combinations, and the girls were willing to give everything a go. Awards: Whiteboards Direct – Reg Brokenshire. Domino’s: Millie Utber. Over the Road – Suzie Bouchier.
