Warriors take aim at Bullseyes

A clear gap is beginning to open up between the top four teams and the remainder of the competition after a defining round five in the South West Gippsland Dart League (SWGDL).

Last season’s premiers, Just Social, have the slenderest of margins over the also-undefeated Warriors, with just one peg separating the two teams at the top of the ladder.

Just Social extended its perfect record with an 11-4 victory over sixth-placed Mud Rats, while the Warriors were in awesome form in a 14-1 demolition of bottom-placed Bullseyes.

Snipers, third, had a 10-5 win over the Wizards, while Paky One made it a great week for the top four with a 13-2 victory over Fore.

And in the closest match-up of round five, Gembrook opened its SWGDL Winter Season account with a hard-fought 9-6 victory over Rebels.

Gembrook had been competitive against some strong teams in recent weeks and thoroughly deserved to break their early-season drought.

The highlight of round six will see Paky One and Just Social lock horns, while the two bottom-placed teams – Fore and Bullseyes – will eye each other off in what’s sure to be another tight encounter.

Dean Gibbs from Snipers continues to lead the way with the most tons, having thrown 34 in the first five rounds, while Thom Nicholson from Rebels retains the best peg-out of the season with 122.
