BEACONSFIELD NETBALL
13White: Beaconsfield 20 def Pakenham 10
This week we struggled early against a much smaller and zippy Pakenham, leading with scores 3-2 and 4-3 in the first half. In attack and defence we were unaware of their bodies, struggled to finish our leads, passes were loopy and our timing was very early. In the second half we stopped crowding our midcourt, found great space out of defence and made a second offer when needed. When we connect well down the court the passages of play are great and effortless and finished well with accurate shooting.
Despite not being as polished as we have been in previous weeks we still managed to make a great improvement from our last Pakenham encounter (w8-5) finishing with a convincing win 20-10.
Award Winners
McDonalds – Marlee has returned after injury and a long recovery, she is moving with confidence and speed. Additionally she leads the team by example as captain. This week she scored 13 of our 20 goals adding to her tally of 120 in just 10 games.
Twisted Sista – Isabel is always available when we are short and always brings a great game. She has managed to adjust to our systems and this week playing out of position in C created great drive through our midcourt and intercept pressure as a natural defender
13Blue: Beaconsfield 18 def Narre Warren 17
What a thrilling game of netball this week with a one goal win from a shot after the siren – well done Mia slotting a beauty under pressure! This week the girls showed they have what it takes to dig deep, be aggressive and fight out a tough win which was awesome to watch. We started well opening up a five-goal lead at quarter time. We lost a bit of our structure in the second letting Narre back into the game. Previously the girls may have let a bad quarter bring them down and let the game slip but not this week. They rallied at half time and played a brilliant goal for goal second half against a Narre side who have made amazing improvements since early in the year. Emmika and Taya took control in defence and our mid court were very patient and made good passing choices again lowering our turnover rate this week. Well done girls on a really pleasing win.

15White: Beaconsfield 16 def by ROC 31
The 15 Whites girls took on ROC again and as before, we were looking to close the gap in the score-line even further. Although there was no third time lucky for the win, the girls came away with the best score-line so far keeping ROC to the least amount of goals scored against us and with us scoring the most against them so far! This was very pleasing and well done to the girls on their small win in this area! The girls fought tirelessly until the end keeping our ‘head-down’ moments to a minimum which was something we talked about at training. Of particular note was our goalers holding in the ring and our through-court transition of the ball. It’s sad to think that our time as a team is coming to an end but we have a little work to do yet if we want to bring home the chocolates! Many thanks to Audrey Van Dam and her family for rushing back to ROC from Narre to assist our team – she did a great job!

15Blue: Beaconsfield 8 def by Narre 51
We played the top-of-the-table Narre Warren this week at Narre. They have fantastic strong tall goalers that are extremely hard to match up on, our defenders played tight body on defence and worked hard throughout the whole game and never gave up, in fact all our girls had that never give up attitude even though it was tough. We just struggled to slow down their ball movement and get our own play going. They unfortunately had the game on their terms from the start. I thought our mid court did a great job with their strong drives and managed to draw a few contacts. We just need to lift in our communication especially when the opposition create turn overs. I’m always proud of this group with the way they go about their game and play right to the final whistle.

17White. Beaconsfield 31 def Narre 21
Our 17 whites went down to Kalora Park to take on the benchmark of the competition, undefeated ladder leader Narre Warren. The first quarter saw a fierce battle with neither side giving an inch, finishing the quarter level on seven goals apiece. The second quarter saw us get on top marginally, holding a slender lead going to the main break. The third quarter saw us again win the quarter playing with huge confidence holding a six-goal lead at three-quarter time. The last quarter proved to be our best quarter of the game, with no one giving an inch running the game right out to race away to a 10-goal win. What an enormous effort by the girls, so proud of the girls of how they gave everything for four quarters. What a win!

17Blue: Beaconsfield 48 def Healesville 7
We headed out to Woori Yallock today to play the Under-17 Healesville team. We started strong and had a convincing lead by the end of the first quarter. As our lead progressed we were able to make changes, giving players the opportunity to play with new combinations throughout the court. The girls did well to set themselves targets for the whole playing group to contribute to. Well done girls a great game played today.

D Grade: Beaconsfield 53 def Healesville 9
This week the D grade girls played Healesville at Woori Yallock. We discussed this week about continuing our good form from last week and bringing the same level of fight and determination. Well we definitely brought forward that momentum and started strong, at the end of the first quarter we were up by 10 goals. Our goalers were presenting well and combined well with our mid court that were holding firm on the circle edge. With defence winning lots of turn overs it created quick links to our mid court who in turn fed our goalers who were moving effortlessly. This week we had all 10 players so rotations were hard, but we were all aware of that going in to the game. We managed to keep Healesville to only nine goals for the game and our goalers put on a massive 53 goals, our accuracy across all our goalers was amazing. I was so very proud of the way all the girls showed respect to the opposition and displayed great sportsmanship throughout the whole game.

C Grade: Beaconsfield 36 def Woori Yallock 26
We were nervous about today’s game, as we were missing all three key defenders. So with a change to our line-up this week, Kayce and Hayley stepped up and were our dynamic defensive duo. Once the game started the duo took a few minutes to settle in, but when they did, they were unstoppable. Both of them were outstanding with their efforts and presence in the game. We also had Tahnee come in from Under 17s to support our mid court crew, and once again she drove the mid court beautifully and worked flawlessly with Claire and Lucy. Woori’s defensive pressure was to be commended, but it did not stop Bella and Jessie working their magic and goaling precision. Well done ladies, today’s game ended with a fantastic 10-goal lead.

B Grade: Beaconsfield 52 def Healesville 29
The girls made the trip to Woori Yallock to take on Healesville. Important for the girls this week was to work on execution, lower our error rate and make the most of our opportunities. We had a great first quarter with our attack end working well and defence causing havoc. We trialled a number of combinations throughout the game to provide variety, but also ensure the girls are able to adjust as seamlessly as possible no matter the combination on court. Pleasingly the girls were able to score well, slotting more than 10 goals in each quarter, but also keep the pressure on in defence to limit Healesville’s goaling opportunities. Beacy took the win 52 to 19.

A Grade: Beaconsfield 56 def by Woori 66
Our main priority for our game against Woori was to continue our momentum from last week’s great win and to really push ourselves. Last time we met, Woori took the game in convincing fashion and we were determined not to let that happen again. Our girls started the game brilliantly, able to push an early lead in the first quarter. A couple of small mistakes let Woori back in, but the intensity and commitment levels remained high – and the girls kept on showing some of our best netball. We unfortunately let Woori take a small lead into the last quarter, but the girls kept on applying pressure and never gave up. The girls really have to be commended for their efforts on court – we able to score our highest score all season, and really take it to our opposition. We went down by 10 in the end – but our A grade team should really take a lot of positives out of this match.
