The revolving door at the top of the South West Gippsland Dart League has continued to spin freely with Just Social now the ladder leaders after an intriguing round eight of competition.
There are now four teams locked at the top on six wins for the season – with percentage dictating ladder positions.
This was the most even round of the season, with the five losing teams accumulating 28 legs – the highest number for the year.
The biggest blow out was still a competitive contest, with fourth-placed 26ers having to work hard for an 11-4 victory over Fore.
Rebels won their third game for the season, scoring a 10-5 win over Bullseyes, while Mud Rats made it two wins for the season with a 9-6 triumph over the Hoodies.
The Hoodies are a new team to the competition and are starting to show signs of improvement; winning six legs in round eight after not troubling the scorers in rounds six and seven.
The game-of-the-round took place at the Cardinia Club in Pakenham where great rivals Warriors and PakyOne fought out a nail-biter.
There was little between the two teams all night, with most legs having both teams in a position to peg out; with PakyOne finally prevailing in an 8-7 scoreline.
There were many highlights in this contest, with Shane from PakyOne and Liam from the Warriors both throwing 180’s to rubber-stamp the quality of the match up.
Dean, from Bullseyes, also threw a 180 in round eight.
The narrow loss for the Warriors has seen them removed from first place after Just Social scored a 9-6 victory over a rapidly-improving Gembrook.
The Brookers have been a lot more competitive against the better teams in the competition in recent rounds and continued that trend against the perennial finalists from Kooweerup.
Snipers had the round-eight bye, but it didn’t stop Dean Gibbs from maintaining his lead at the top of the tons-thrown category with 44 tons for the season.
Anthony from the Warriors sits second with 34 tons, with Shane from PakyOne in third place on 31.
LADDER – R8: Just Social 24, Warriors 24, PakyOne 24, 26ers 24, Snipers 20, Rebels 16, Gembrook 12, Mud rats 8, Bullseyes 8, Fore 0, The Hoodies 0.
