20-0: Difficult day for Pakenham

It was always going to be tough for bottom-placed Pakenham United coming up against ladder-leaders Hampton Park.

But a 20-0 loss to the Sparrows must have been morale-sapping.

It took them eight minutes to hit the scoreboard and thereafter, the hosts didn’t go more than 12 minutes without a goal.

The Sparrows scored five goals in a nine-minute period between the 74 and 83-minute marks to extend the margin to 18-0.

They would keep the foot on the hammer until full time and score two more.

Hampton Park was up 8-0 at halftime, then scored three in the first six minutes after the break including a penalty.

Munib Mohamed led the onslaught with eight goals, including the first one, while Weaam Zeitoune, competition leading goalscorer Naseem Rasekh and Archie Lindsay were the other multiple goalscorers.

In all, nine players found the back of the net.

With Barton on the horizon this weekend, which is also yet to record points this season, Pakenham will be presented with their best opportunity for a positive result.

Bunyip District, meanwhile, went down 3-2 at home against Seaford.

After going down 2-0, the hosts got one back in the 39th minute via a penalty to go into the break 2-1.

Seaford hit the scoreboard next to extend the margin to two goals before another Howard penalty conversion in the 87th minute made for an excellent climax – but Seaford held on.
