Tooradin-Dalmore will once again look to ‘set the cat amongst the pigeons’ this week when the Seagulls host top-of-the-table Nar Nar Goon in a mouth-watering WGFNC Match of the Day.
The Gulls raised many eyebrows with a stirring victory over Inverloch-Kongwak last week; a win clearly built on a fierce determination to compete and protection of each other in a good old-fashioned contest.
There was no love lost from the first bounce, with the Gulls lifting the intensity levels to a new height in 2024.
It was the Gulls sixth win on the trot, and Jordy Kelly and his boys now sit just one game behind this week’s visiting ladder leaders.
Late-inclusion Troy Dolan was a battering-ram for the Gulls, while Dylan Sutton took some great marks and absorbed a tremendous of pressure in defence.
Class acts such as Piva Wright, Lewis Hill, Brad Butler and Matt Buntine were all super-effective when the game was on the line and will head into this week’s contest full of confidence.
The Goon made light work of Kilcunda-Bass last week in a great bounce back from its recent loss to Cora Lynn.
Dermott Yawney, Nate Pipicelli and Matt Gentile were the major targets up forward, with Seagulls defenders Luke McKenna, Cooper Shipp and Adam Oxley likely to get first crack at that trio on the weekend.
This one should be a ripper; but we’ll go for the Goon to edge clear in the second half and win by 21 points.
In other games this week, Phillip Island will have no trouble disposing of Garfield at Cowes, while Inverloch-Kongwak will bounce back handsomely from back-to-back losses with a huge win at home against Bunyip.
An improving Warragul Industrials will be too strong for Dalyston at Western Park, while Kilcunda-Bass face a huge test at home against a very impressive Cora Lynn.
Cobras’ coach Shaun Sparks has his team playing some dynamic football at present; with the Cobras’ speed on the ball noticeably superior to that of the last two years.
The proud Panthers will be shattered with their insipid display against Nar Nar Goon last week; and will improve…but the Cobras will be too good.
And Kooweerup will be chasing its first win since round one when the Demons head to Korumburra-Bena.
Dale Alanis and his demons have done it tough this season; but upcoming games against the Giants, Bunyip and Garfield should provide the high-point of their season.
It’s the Demons by 32 points.
