Clyde getting on the front foot in 2024-25

Clyde Cricket Club

2023-24 finish: Seventh

2023-24 leading runscorer: Trevor Bauer (458)

2023-24 leading wicket-taker: Daniel Lever (17) (departed)

Clyde is set to have a focus on playing a more positive brand of cricket this season, which it hopes will propel it into finals contention after being forced to stave off relegation in recent times. The club has brought in new players which will add class to a batting order which was inconsistent last season and the depth is stronger than it has been for some time. The big loss is that of skipper and wicket-keeper Zac Davis who has crossed to Kooweerup. Trevor Bauer is set to replace him as captain while young Nick Whitelaw from Officer will be given a chance with the gloves. The club has also lost its frontline spinner, but

Club quote

Captain Trevor Bauer: “The biggest thing for us was building on our current group and incorporating the new players. Having a sense of purpose when we’re training and identifying the leaders within the group has been a focus. There’s been a focus on batting with intent, we’ve been trying to take steps forward in working our way through to challenge this season. I think the biggest thing I’ve identified in the group is talent is one thing but having someone to drive the standard has been important. We’re trying to come up with a style of play Clyde can be recognised for and we’re trying to build a list around that.”

Ins: Ash Herth, Praveen Perera, Thishane Hettiarachchi, Nick Whitelaw, Suraj Kandasamy, Yashan Akila

Outs: Zac Davis, Roshan Bandara, Daniel Lever, Mahi Bodahandhi

Predicted finish: Sixth
