O’Connor albatross helps buzz to build at Lang Lang

LANG LANG GOLF

Long-time member Perry O’Connor made it a memorable week at Lang Lang Golf Club carding a spectacular albatross on the 17th hole during Saturday’s play.

The course was buzzing across the weekend, due not just to O’Connor’s heroics, with more than 200 players out on both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday featured a much-coveted board event, while Sunday welcomed both social players and a Stableford competition.

Midweek competitions began on Tuesday with a Par event, with John Oates (17) claiming A Grade on +1 and Vlado Pucovsky (25) impressing in B Grade with +3.

Wednesday’s Stableford was tightly contested, with Leah Barker (24) winning on 35 points, edging out Sophie Elliot (34) who also finished with 35 after countback.

Thursday’s Stableford started under a rainbow, fittingly pointing to gold on the greens.

Nik Hock (15) took out A Grade with 36 points, while Noel Zunneberg (19) matched that total to secure B Grade.

The 2BBB competition went to Ralph Hendrick and Steve Bray with 44 points.

Saturday hosted three competitions.

The board event, a 4BBB Gross, was won by Levi Maxwell (3) and Bart McDonald (6) with a combined gross score of 67.

The 4BBB Stableford went to Peter Carroll (14) and Andrew Wellwood (11) on a strong 48 points.

For those playing individually, James Schilling (32) took out the Stableford with 40 points, just ahead of octogenarian Gary Clymo (31) on 39 points.

Sunday’s Stableford was played in sunny conditions, with Chris Grant (22) producing the winning score of 40 points.
