Winning starts to 2025/26

Casey South Melbourne and Dandenong both got their seasons off to winning starts in the Vic Premier Cricket competition on the weekend.

The Swans bowled Frankston-Peninsula out for just 104 at Casey Fields, with English recruit Finlay Gordon making his mark on club debut, with 4/39 off 10 overs – with his scalps all being top-order batters.

It laid the foundation for the comfortable victory, with Yash Pednekar and Daud Malik finishing unbeaten in the seven-wicket victory.

Meanwhile, Dandenong timed its chase against Fitzroy-Doncaster perfectly, winning in the last over by seven wickets, inspired by a century to bankable skipper Brett Forsyth,

After sending the hosts in, both teams had periods of momentum in Fitzroy-Doncaster’s innings, with Gehan Seneviratne leading the way with 3/35, while Noah Hurley and Matthew Wilson took two wickets each.

Chasing 203, Forsyth was rarely challenged after getting off to a blazing start, finishing unbeaten on 109 and sharing a 144-run partnership with number-three Shobit Singh (75) to guide Dandenong to victory.

The Swans will face Melbourne University in round two, while Dandenong has reigning premier St Kilda.
