THE Endeavour Hills Rugby Union Football Club is ready to sprint, tackle and dive back into action at Frog Hollow Reserve this Saturday.
Playing in A-grade competition of the Rugby Union Victoria League, the Hills will have their hands full in the season opener, playing the reigning premiers Boroondara in round one.
Mark Thompson has been appointed as coach of the senior side.
Thompson came to the Endeavour Hills club after relocating from New Zealand and has coached a number of junior sides in the lead up to scoring the club’s top coaching position.
George Mani has been re-appointed as captain of the senior team.
Club secretary David Hawkins said the club had retained about 50 per cent of last year’s senior players.
“There is plenty of new faces and talent around and with our new coach, things are looking very exciting,” he said.
Aiming to play finals again, Hawkins said the season kick-off against Boroondara would be a worthy test of the side’s potential.
“It’s a good chance to see where we are at, they (Boroondara) will be a strong side again,” he said.
The match kicks off at Frog Hollow Reserve, Endeavour Hills at 3.05pm.
