FOOTY fever struck Chalcot Lodge Primary School recently when Collingwood defender James Clement gave students some coaching tips to help improve their playing skills.
Children at the Endeavour Hills school dressed in their favourite AFL colours and students and staff asked Clement many questions about the sport and he impressed on the importance of participating in sports — particularly team sports.
Clement also encouraged students to participate in programs such as Aus Kick to develop their basic skills and highlighted the importance of education in preparing for their futures both in the sporting arenas and the work force.
Students and teachers joined in the fun by getting fit and practising handballing and general fitness activities.
The visit was part of the school’s Health and Fitness Program.
This term students have been learning about healthy eating habits and will be soon participating in Life Education’s Healthy Eating Project and Jump Rope for Heart Fitness Program.
