Police search for schoolboys

THE disappearance of three Endeavour Hills schoolboys prompted a full-scale search last week with five police crews and a canine patrol used to find the missing children.
The boys, two aged nine and one aged six, were reported missing about 5pm last Friday night when a concerned mother contacted police.
The boys, two of which are siblings, had been playing at a friend’s house following the end of the school term. When they failed to return home the alarm was raised.
Acting Sergeant Peter Carroll of Endeavour Hills police said the search for the boys had taken up a great deal of police resources and time.
He said the boys had been found safe and well walking along Heatherton Road in Dandenong North about 9.55pm and simply told police they had wanted to go for a walk.
Sgt Carroll said police crews from Narre Warren and Endeavour Hills had helped with the search and the incident served as a timely reminder for parents and children to keep each other informed of their whereabouts and not just wander off.
“Children should leave the phone number of where they are going and if parents have three of four young children arrive at their house they should ring the parents and check that they know where their children are,” Sgt Carroll said.
Sgt Carroll said this was an important message to share with parents and children during the school holiday period.
