Fair serve call

AN HISTORIC piece of Narre Warren North is struggling to accommodate growing numbers.
The clubrooms of the Narre Warren North Tennis Club, which borders the Narre Warren North Hall, is slowly proving too small and old for the increasing number of players.
The rooms, which were originally built in 1975, host 150 members each week and according to secretary of the tennis club, Natalie Lutersz, it’s a tight squeeze.
“When we get washed out everyone is really squashed and we can’t fit everyone in,” she said.
Ms Lutersz said after failing to get funds from council, the club had been trying to raise money which would go towards expanding and improving the rooms.
The secretary also mentioned that given such a large majority of players were juniors, bigger rooms would increase their club’s appeal.
“A new hall would create more interest,” she said.
“It gives juniors something to do of a weekend.”
The Narre Warren North Tennis club members are hopeful further fund-raising efforts will invite more donations to help reconstruct the rooms.
