NARRE Warren teenager Rebecca Clark has been awarded a Queen’s Guide award after 18 months of commitment and hard work.
The Narre Warren District Guides member completed a range of personal and team-oriented challenges in her quest to receive the prestigious award.
Rebecca started the journey at the age of 14 when she first joined the Scouting ranks, and she has not looked back since.
“Completing the Queen’s Guide has given me a lot of confidence in a range of things,” she said.
“It has helped with my public speaking and interacting with people I wouldn’t normally.”
The 18-year-old was required to do 90 hours of community service as one of her tasks to obtain the award.
“I did 60 hours working at the Casey Aged Care facility in Narre Warren South. I would chat to the residents and join in on their activities,” she said.
“I also did 30 hours helping out at the Narre Warren Library.”
Rebecca will spend this year concentrating on her year 12 studies at Eumemmerring College and then her plan is to move on to university.
“I would like to study a double degree of teaching and psychology,” she said.
And as for her future Scouting efforts …
“A Guide leader is what I want to do next. I will work with other leaders and I can then work with my own group.”
