BERWICK-based Australian Precision Technologies (APT) was one of several stops on manufacturing minister David Hodgett’s list as he toured the south of Victoria.
Mr Hodgett visited businesses that are working with the State Government to develop their services and access new markets.
APT shared details of its investment to produce large machined components for the defence, aerospace and mining industries, following a grant from the Federal Government and State Government funded Auto New Markets Program (ANMP).
Mr Hodgett said he was very impressed with APT’s training system.
“As well as looking at ways to diversify its product, APT has developed a cutting edge cycle training system,” he said.
“The company is also working with Chisholm TAFE to develop training that gives employees staged training on state-of-the-art machinery.”
Mr Hodgett also visited Prysm Industries in Dandenong South and Armstrong World Industries in Braeside and said all three businesses had worked productively with the Victorian Government Business Office (VGBO) in Dandenong
“I am incredibly impressed with the innovation, commitment and skills-base demonstrated by these firms, and how they have used Coalition Government support to enhance their performance,” he said.
Mr Hodgett said working with a VGBO can help firms access support that is relevant, practical and, most often, low cost or even free.
“I invite all businesses across Melbourne’s South to contact the Dandenong VGBO to explore ways the Coalition Government can support your business needs,” he said.
