A CASEY family is pleading for the safe return of their beloved dog which helped them through an emotional time.
Michelle Gatt said their Staffy named Indi went missing on Saturday last week from the family’s Narre Warren North home and they haven’t seen her since.
Ms Gatt said her family, especially her children Tyron, 12, and Kaylah, 15, were hoping someone might know where she is because she is not just a pet to them.
“We got Indi the day after my husband’s brother committed suicide in December last year,” she said.
“We got this pup to help the children and us through a hard time.
“So she is not only our beloved pet, but she is very sentimental to us.”
Ms Gatt said the one year anniversary of her brother-in-law’s death was coming up in two weeks and the family hoped to get Indi home before then.
“We have all been so down since she went missing,” she said.
“She was part of the family and comes in the car to pick up and drop off the kids to school each day and slept on the end of my son’s bed.
“Tyron hasn’t been at school and is barely eating or sleeping.”
Ms Gatt said the family wasn’t sure if Indi had run away or been taken, but urged anyone with information on her whereabouts to come forward.
“We are thinking now that she may have been taken,” she said.
“If anyone knows anything please let us know.”
