Supporters clash after sentence

TENSIONS flared between two groups last week after a Doveton man was sentenced to more than eight years in jail.
Christophe Etienne, 20, was jailed for eight years and three months after pleading guilty to one count of culpable driving causing death, two counts of negligently causing serious injury, one count of reckless conduct and two counts of theft.
The charges relate to a crash in Doveton last July in which Harley Debnam, 17, was killed. Harley’s brother, Josh Debnam and Mr Etienne’s sister, Isabelle Etienne, were seriously injured.
They were passengers in the car Etienne was driving when it hit a power pole. Police had to break up a dispute between the two parties outside the County Court after the sentencing and again when the groups returned to Doveton.
Etienne will serve a minimum jail term of five years and nine months before being eligible for parole.
