Police probe fires

NARRE Warren police have been called to a number of fires throughout Casey in the last week – both suspicious and non-suspicious.
A woman’s Cranbourne West home was nearly engulfed by flames after a fire lit in a backyard chiminea wasn’t properly extinguished around 4am on Monday 11 May.
CFA, who extinguished the blaze, believe the fire was ignited from ash left in the chimanea, located under a pergola at the Comte Close property.
No one was injured in the blaze.
It comes after a witness spotted a fire in scrubland near a walking track in Pearcedale around 7pm on Sunday 3 May.
CFA are treating the fire, which was close to Middle Road, as suspicious after they found a bunch of sawdust near the blaze.
CFA crews were also called to a street fire in Cranbourne around 10pm on Thursday 7 May.
Detectives are treating the Duff Street fire as suspicious after flammable accelerant was discovered at the scene.
Nothing was damaged as a result of the street fire.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
