Kambrya features in TV series

Students prepare for their TV debut.

A BERWICK-BASED school has been chosen to take part in a landmark television event.
CJZ Productions has been commissioned by the ABC to produce a landmark television series addressing the vexed and complex issue of how to raise the standard of school education in Australia.
The ABC’s brief is for a series that illustrates “real children having their life opportunities improved’’, and for the series to follow the day to day happenings of a typical Australian school where quality teaching and learning is a priority.
CJZ believes Kambrya College, in the Melbourne suburb of Berwick, is the school that best fits these criteria.
The aim is to showcase what does work to improve outcomes for students, and to closely observe a school that can be a role model for others around the nation. The lessons learned should be applicable to the majority of schools in the country, whether they are public or private.
Kambrya was chosen after months of intensive research across Australia.
During the past six years, Kambrya College has transformed from one of the lowest performing schools in Victoria, to the point where it sits among the top 20 per cent of government schools in the state.
The series will follow students and teachers at Kambrya College over the course of the 2015 school year, focusing primarily on Year 7 and Year 12 students, to illustrate the teaching methods and targeted interventions helping students to maximise their potential.
