On the write track

MOSSGIEL Park Primary School students got a glimpse of the lives of authors and illustrators recently.
Students from prep to grade six wrote, illustrated and published their stories as part of the school’s prestigious Young Writers Awards.
Judges were thrilled with the variety of writing styles and the ability of students to write about significant and contemporary topics in a thoughtful way.
Reece and Jake shared the title with their well constructed pieces.
Teacher Jenny Scott said Jake delved into the minds of the passengers on Flight 93 who lost their lives during the September 11 terrorist attacks.
Reece was awarded the title for his illustrated short novel Detective Spencer in Frog Fuss.
Casey mayor Colin Butler presented the winners with their Young Writers Awards medallion, certificate and book prize.
The students’ entries will now be compiled into a book to inspire the young writers of the future.
