Pedal power for charities

By Cam Lucadou-Wells

Scores of Berwick College students put their mettle to their pedals to raise $10,000 for charity.
Each student from the college’s Frost Learning Team clocked up as many kilometres as they could while aboard stationary bikes from 26-30 June.
In the past three years, the Frost team have raised more than $12,000 and ridden more than 4500 kilometres.
Last year, they donated $6000 to the Leukaemia Foundation, earning a City of Casey Australia Day award.
The students were set a much steeper goal this year – $1000 for each of 10 most popular charities voted by the student body.
“Our students are so inspiring, and we are so proud of them that we have decided to step up our efforts,” teacher Irena Arney said.
The nominated charities are Diabetes Australia, the 4Cs, Autism Australia, Ovarian Cancer Research, Motor Neuron Disease, the Cancer Council, Lupus Awareness, Soldier On, Heart Kids and the Starlight Foundation.
