Generations bond for the day

CASEY is inviting all grandparents with their grandchildren to come along to Grandparent’s Day at Doveton’s Myuna Farm on Saturday 10 May.
The event will kick-start National Families Week which runs from 11 to 17 May and will provide an opportunity for grandparents and their grandchildren to enjoy a variety of family fun activities and celebrate the role of grand parenting.
There will be barbecue and picnic facilities available with tea, coffee and fruit provided. Visitors will be able to meet and feed the animals and there will be a special reading room set up where grandparents and their grandchildren can enjoy story time.
Pony rides will also be available for $2 and old fashioned games such as hopscotch, jacks, quoits, skipping and skittles can be played.
City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall said it was important to recognise and celebrate this special day.
“Grandparent’s Day is about honouring grandparents and providing them with an opportunity to spend some time with their children’s children,” she said. “It’s also a great chance for children to remember the information and guidance older people can offer.”
Grandparent’s Day goes from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
Participants are required to RSVP by contacting the City of Casey on 9705 5200.
