New look Webb Street precinct unveiled

The newly revitalised Webb Street shopping precinct in Narre Warren was officially opened by minister for police the hon Lisa Neville MP, state member for Narre Warren South Judith Couacaud Graley MP and the minister for roads the hon Luke Donnellan yesterday (Wednesday).

The new precinct includes a new three room public toilet with wheelchair access, new paving and public furniture, new lighting, and new garden spaces.

“Webb Street looks and feels better, safer too,” Ms Couacaud Graley said.

“Community members are going to really enjoy shopping in Narre Warren.

“This will be a great area that everyone from Narre Warren can come and enjoy.”

The Connecting our Village Narre Warren Revitalisation project was completed by the City of Casey in collaboration with the Andrews Labor Government.

The council received $250,000 from the State Government’s Public Safety Infrastructure Fund that provides for the development of public safety and security infrastructure to improve community safety and confidence in public places.

The project applied Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) techniques to redesign Narre Warren Village in order to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, and improve perceptions of safety in the area.
