Open drains are rubbish

MAY I call readers’ attention to the situation of deep open drains full of rubbish in and around Pakenham. They are mainly along the highway opposite the Pakenham Secondary College, McGregor Road and Railway Avenue.
Perhaps the shire could focus on these antediluvian drains instead of faux brick pavement in Main Street.
My councillor chooses not to reply to my two letters, but to strut his stuff in Main Street (News, 3 July).
I hope you can photograph these “dug-outs” for your paper.
Vic Riley,
Pakenham.
