‘Easter egg hunts prove kids can find things when they want to’ – so the saying goes, and it proved true at the recent Berwick Easter Egg Hunt
Kids and families from around Berwick filled their baskets in this year’s event, organised by O’Brien Real Estate Berwick and Berwick Business Group.
Rachael Davidson, a property manager at O’Brien who helped organised the hunt, estimated a few hundred people took part across the day.
It wasn’t just those foil-covered treasures that attracted little fingers: Ms Davidson said organisers set up an Easter colouring competition too, as well as three raffle prizes, a sausage sizzle, show bags and other competitions throughout the day – and of course, the obligatory hot cross buns.
Berwick traders Bakers Delight and Griffin & Morris Village Butchers chipped in with bread, hot cross buns and sausages, rendering it a real community celebration, Ms Davidson said.
“It was definitely about giving back to the community, and celebrating Easter all together as the Berwick community,” she said.
Gold coin donations raised from the sausage sizzle went to the O’Brien Real Estate Foundation to help local families in need.
Ms Davidson said the organisers are already planning next year’s event.
“We’re definitely looking forward to future ones – bigger and better, with many more people involved. It’s a good day for families.”
