There are a number of families who are desperate for help this Christmas as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Akoonah Park Men’s Shed members are sparing a thought for those who are on the streets by gathering clothing and food on behalf of the Berwick Opportunity Shop and the Narre Warren Opportunity Shop.
The opportunity shops are accepting unwanted blankets, jumpers and tinned food from the Shed’s 160 members.
Shed members will collect the donations and deliver them to the op shops.
“We usually get a lot of support from our members who give whatever they can manage,”committee member Lindsay Harding said.
“Thank you to all our past contributors, the op shops really appreciate your efforts.
“All profits go back to the local community, these op shops are also not for profit groups who rely on volunteers.”
Mr Harding said the Men’s Shed have been supporting op shops for a number of years to help the less fortunate.
