DANCERS will be popping and locking alongside choreographers from the hit television show So You Think You Can Dance.
Students at the Suzie Ryrie School of Dance in Berwick are gearing up for the upcoming workshops led by instructors Vince Calingasan and Etienne Khoo on 15 April.
The Enterprise Avenue studio has connections with the Channel 10 show through hip hop teacher Adrienne Mewett who also teaches under the guidance of star judge from So You Think You Can Dance Jason Coleman.
Studio owner Julie Anderson told the News the pair would be running workshops on the day for dancers in four age groups, 8 to 10 years, 11 to 13 years, 13 to 15 years and 15 years and older.
The dancers will be teaching their own specialty styles of hip hop, according to Ms Anderson.
“Etienne teaches gansta style hip hop while Vince will focus on lyrical hip hop,” she said.
Ms Anderson said the dancers at the school were excited about learning the tricks of the trade from the star choreographers.
“I don’t know who is more excited, the kids or the parents,” she laughed.
“It’s a great opportunity for the dancers to be taught by the best in the industry.”
Berwick dancer Maddison Lynch said she was looking forward to learning the different styles of dance.
The 13-year-old, who does jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary and hip hop, said one of her dreams was to be on So You Think You Can Dance.
Ms Anderson said many of the budding dancers at the school aspired to be on the reality television show.
The Suzie Ryrie School of Dance has been running for ten years, and has more than 450 students aged from two to 25 years.
The upcoming classes by Vince and Etienne run from 10am to 5.30pm and cost $12 per class.
