HALLAM Valley Pony Club has a lot to be proud of after two of its members achieved 10 years of membership.
Emily Cray and Crystal Clark, both 21, were presented with achievement certificates.
The club’s assistant district commissioner, Joanne Clark, said that in the 11 years she has been at the club, this was the first time she had witnessed this length of commitment from members.
“It is really unusual because a lot of kids come and go,” she said.
“It shows commitment on their behalf and on the parents’ behalf.”
The two girls were presented with State Level Competitor badges, along with Kimberly Buchanan, Claire Ward, Laura Ward and Caitlin Moreland, in recognition of their success at Zone level and competing at State level.
Ms Clark has competed in games, where competitors manoeuvre obstacles and complete tasks with their horse using props such as balls, barrels, buckets and poles.
Ms Clark said that she had never been as heavily involved in anything such as the pony club.
“I’m hoping to continue, I definitely want to keep riding,” she said.
Ms Cray competes in dressage and has also been completing a coaching course so that she might pass on her 10 years of experience to future pony club members.
