Festival shines with beef and beer

Narre Warren Cricket Club hosted the Beef and Beer Fest at Sweeney Reserve on Sunday, 25 November.

The cricket club was extremely pleased with the day and the number of people that came along to support this fundraising initiative for the benefit of the club.

“Around 2000 people came joined us throughout the day and despite a little spring shower early, we were blessed with beautiful weather by late afternoon,” event organiser Julie Benson said.

“Congratulations to Australia’s number one ranked competitive eater, Cal Stubbs (Hulksmashfood) on taking home the $1000 cash prize at the hot dog eating contest.

“Seven artists from the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne did an amazing job at entertaining the patrons; we have some great talent out here.”

Ms Benson said, “I’d like to thank the attendees, vendors and entertainers in getting behind this event run by the local community, for the local community.”
