Brad’s ton fires Cranbourne

SUPERB 107 by Brad Angus and a powerhouse 97 not out by Danny Diwell helped Cranbourne’s turf-one team post an imposing 310 against St Mary’s on Saturday.
On a day that should have favoured the bowlers, Cranbourne did magnificently to post the big score.
Leading the way was star batsman Brad Angus who hit a magnificent 107 in his best knock for the year. Last round Century maker Danny Diwell also kept going from where he left off last game with a powerhouse 97 no.
Other prominent batsmen were Steve Hall (31) and Ross Woodall (24) while turf-one debutant Andrew Toan showed promising signs with a dashing 23.

Cranbourne won the toss against St Mary’s and seemed a totally different side from last week in batting first.
Matt Weir was the mainstay of the innings with 45 off 65 patient overs, single-handedly preventing the team from collapsing short of the overs.
The sparkle was added in the middle of the innings by captain Rodger Alister who hit a brilliant 89.

On a day where not much went right in the field, Cranbourne had one shining star in leggie Troy Kimball.
He had the hard task of bowling into the wind, but through a combination of drop, bounce and spin thrived, taking the first five wickets and appearing unplayable at times.
Junior gloveman Lucas Ligt, gave an impressive display behind the stumps.

Cranbourne got off to a great start against Doveton with Simon Hanger (38) and Glenn Dickinson (71) putting on 110 for the first wicket.
This solid opening pair set the stage for another hard-hitting innings from junior Matthew McKean who made 111 no, his second century for the year.
Brad Oulton (16 not out) put on an unbroken 57 run stand for the eighth wicket with McKean.

Batting first Cranbourne amassed a huge score against Keysborough, thanks mainly to the batting of Kevin Lindsay (52 not out).
Other contributors were Al Courtney and Gavin Roscoe who both opened and got 38 and 32 respectively and Craig Lambden 31.
With the ball, Cranbourne cruised with young quickie Daniel Baker taking 5/12 off of six overs.
