Pupils learn meaning of Anzac

ANZAC Day came 24 hours early for Thomas Mitchell Primary School students but the spirit of the diggers was just as strong.
The Endeavour Hills students made Dandenong RSL member John Wells welcome last Tuesday week and, through his talk, learnt all about the wartime sacrifices made by Australian men and women.
Mr Wells spoke to the students about how Australian defence forces did what was right for their country and how the nation should respect the soldiers who took part.
School captains Penny-May and Chris said everyone thoroughly enjoyed the talk given by Mr Wells.
“We learnt that Anzac Day isn’t just about remembering the fighting and the war but it’s about respecting the sacrifices our men and women made,” Chris said.
“It was great to see the preps be aware of what Anzac really is. It was a great day and we believe that all of the students learnt a little more about Anzac Day,” Penny-May said.
