Council opens its books

CASEY Council has resolved to make the Community Rate Review Committee’s report available for inspection at the city’s three customer service centres.
Excluding some confidential sections of the document, the report will be available for inspection by the community at the Narre Warren, Narre Warren South and Cranbourne customer service centres.
The council also resolved to make copies of the Executive Summary and Sections 1 and 2 of the report available for collection by interested residents.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said copies of the report would be available for viewing from Thursday, 27 July and that interested people in the community were invited to comment on the report by Thursday, 10 August.
Cr Bradford said the council would carefully consider the 500 plus page report before making any decisions on the report’s recommendations.
“This report is one of the most significant documents this council will ever consider so it’s important that we are not hasty in coming to any conclusions too early,” said Cr Bradford.
“Once councillors are briefed on the report by representatives of the Community Rate Review Committee as well as council’s professional staff, we will be in a more informed position to fully consider the findings before making any decisions.”
People wishing to provide comment on the report can write to Community Rate Review Committee Report Submission, City of Casey, PO Box 1000, Narre Warren, Victoria 3805.
