POLICE believe a house fire at an unoccupied Doveton home last week was arson.
The fire, in aptly named Ash Street, occurred last Wednesday, 19 July when vandals set fire to a back room between 3pm and 8pm.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ian Wilcox said the empty home was ready for sale and the small blaze had caused smoke and fire damage worth an estimated $2000.
He said a rear rumpus room door had been forced before papers were stacked together and a small fire lit.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Senior Constable Andrew Smart of Narre Warren CIU on 9705 3111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
