Nuts for dough

AMERICAN doughnut chain Krispy Kreme has been inundated with job applications by more than 900 people wanting to work at the new Narre Warren store.
Last week, the company announced the official opening date for its first Victorian outlet with plans to go into business from Thursday, 22 June.
Krispy Kreme’s marketing manager, Mark Gilbert, this week said they had been completely overwhelmed by the number of job applications and it would be a tough task shortlisting the candidates for individual interviews.
From today until Saturday, Krispy Kreme hopefuls will be taken through a recruitment process before finding out if they are successful.
They were expected to meet today at Casey Fields in Cranbourne for the first round of interviews.
Mr Gilbert said the company was looking for between 100 and 120 staff members for casual, part-time and full-time work.
He said the 926 applicants were from a broad range of ages and many were from the Casey area.
Mr Gilbert said new recruits would have the opportunity to take on various roles, from customer service to drive through, to barristas and coffee makers, to people working in processing and production.
He said workers would have the opportunity to be cross-trained at the various work stations and the company was looking for people who were passionate about customer service and who also liked to have fun.
When the 24-hour store opens, it will be able to produce more than 3240 doughnuts per hour, offering a variety of 15 different flavours and is expected to create more than 100 jobs.
