Finals’ preview for Narre Warren

IN a finals’ preview, Narre Warren’s turf-one side is locked in an exciting second versus fifth struggle with Buckley Ridges.
The game could go either way this week, with Narre Warren needing five wickets and Buckley Ridges 74 runs.
With only 0.3 of a percentage point the difference, Narre Warren won the toss on a good Park Oval wicket and decided to bat.
Things didn’t start well for Narre Warren with Dean Williams out for four and then Prateek Munjal was run out with the score 2/4.
When John Simpson fell for a duck, things were not looking good at 3/ 4, and when Dwayne Scott followed lbw two overs later, Narre Warren was reeling at 4/5.
Fortunately for Narre, captain-coach, Perumal was able to hang around. Mark Teeuw came in and was out caught behind for six to have the score at 5/23.
Bill O’Loughlin came in and with Perumal went about setting things right.
The two put on 33 before O’Loughlin was brilliantly stumped for 26.
Chris Jarrett joined Perumal but was also stumped shortly after for two and the score was 7/69.
The in form Chris Pentland went into battle with Perumal and they did a good job in trying to resurrect the innings and give Narre’s inform bowling attack a total to bowl at.
Pentland struck the ball well and put on 38 with Perumal before the latter was out for 43.
Les Brown was next in and did an excellent job to score 23 and add 31 with Pentland before he was out, stumped for a well made 32.
Then 14-year-old turf-one debutant, Matt Darvell, came in at 11 and was left not out on zero as Brown was caught behind for 23.
With 145 the target Narre Warren was in need of wickets in the 17 overs left to bowl.
This happened early with Pentland picking up Hobkirk with the score at six and struck again with the score at 27 and again with the score at 43.
Simpson then joined the party to remove the night watchman and then gun Buckley Ridges captain, Shane Simpson for a duck and the score 5/72.

Narre Warren won the toss in the battle for top spot against Buckley Ridges, electing to bat.
Wickets fell steadily throughout the innings before Narre Warren was all out for 142.
Dwayne Thomson was again the mainstay with 41. Marty Green started well before falling for 27 with Steve Woodward making 20.
Buckley Ridges started its innings with quick runs before the loss of four wickets stemmed the flow finishing on 4/96.
Woodward picked up 2/24 with Bryce Millar and Michael Sigaras a wicket apiece.

Southern Pirates made a solid start against Narre after being sent in with an opening partnership of 63.
After that the wickets fell steadily to have Southern Pirates 5/127 at tea off 39 overs.
A wicket straight after tea saw them at 6/127, then all out in 59 overs for 230.
Best of the bowlers were Dwayne Hughes (4/71), Cris Morse (1/0) and Daniel Orchard (1/4).
In reply, Narre Warren is 2/54 with Colin Perumal 25 and David Bartlett 14 not-out.

Narre Warren hosted Southern Pirates in the Round 10 clash.
Narre bowled and fielded well all day, dispatching the Pirates for 268 with Vic Bradshaw again leading the way taking 4/35. Mick vanDam took 2/61 with the other bowlers getting a wicket each.

Narre, playing Cranbourne away, lost the toss and was sent in to bat.
Cranbourne bowled well and at the break Narre Warren was only 2/47.
After drinks, some good batting by Matt Darvell and Matt Clarke pushed the score along.
Narre Warren finished the day’s play at 6/136 with Matt Harding batting well at the end to finish 30 not out, Matt Darvell 23, Mark Blanco 22 and a good innings by Nathan King who made 15.

Playing Cranbourne away, Narre Warren got off to a bad start to be 2/0 in the third over, but steadied with the next two partnerships to be 4/77 only to fall away and be all out for 98.
Best of the bats were Nathan Prosser and a great effort from Mitchell Arter to open the innings and be 27 not out at the finish.

Narre Warren played Cranbourne that won the toss and elected to bat.
Narre Warren bowled and fielded well to dismiss the opposition for 98 in the 35th over.
Best of the bowlers were Shannon Marrell (3/16), Jarryd Straker (3/8) Braden King (1 /2) Tim Vrevc (1/5) and Nicholas Shirt (1/7).
Ben Carter was congratulated in taking his first wicket in two years to end the game with 1/3 off 2 overs.
Narre had 11 overs to face and reached 2/39 at close of play with Dylan Quirk 13, Straker 16, and King 7 not out to have the game in the balance.

Playing St Mary’s and winning the toss, Narre Warren elected to bat.
A good start by the openers put Narre in a good position with the score at 48 after 10 overs but the loss of some quick wickets put the pressure on and at the tea break, the score was 5/102 after 20 overs.
Narre was bowled out in the 38th over for 153.
Good batting from Jordan Muzzolini (29 not out), James Morrow (23) and Luke Clarke (22).

Best of the bowlers were Callum Spencer (2/13), Josh Lim (2/24), Blake Cole (2/24) and Nicholas Abeysekera (2/20).

Playing Cranbourne at Casey Fields, Narre Warren lost the toss and was sent in to bat.
On a very small ground, after 36 overs Narre had scored 285.
There were many great batting efforts, but the best was Mitchell Healey (48), Ryan Quikr (34), Hayden Stagg (34), Rhys Dempster (34) and Tom Spreckley (29).

Narre Warren, playing HSD away, won the toss and elected to bat.
The team batted well to reach 9/87 with the best batsmen this week being Jake Robinson (17), Matthew Bartlett (7), Brendan Fernando (5) and Tom Marshall (4).
In reply, HSD Red batted well, but Narre’s bowlers and fielders did well to restrict it to 116 after 24 overs.
Best of the bowlers were Cameron Fernando (2/9), Toby Neill (2/7), Jack King (2/11) Jaie Roberts for a hat-trick with the figures of 4/4 off two overs.

A good team effort saw Narre Warren finish 5/106 after 22 overs.
